Santa Clarita City Council Approves Purchase of Ice Station, renames it “Iceometown”

Santa Clarita – At the August 25th city council meeting, the council approved the $14.2 million purchase of the defunct “Ice Station” in Valencia. The 93,000-square-foot building will not be used to house any local persons currently experiencing homelessness, instead it will sit vacant while the city attempts to justify the additional costs to operate the facility that legally cannot have any customers until the pandemic has passed.

The council also approved renaming the facility to “Iceometown,” a play on the marketing gimmick “Awesometown” thought up by Newhall Land and Farm in an effort to sell bland, cookie-cutter households with expensive monthly HOA fees.

The council will consider purchasing Mountaisia at their next regular meeting next month.
