Boxed Wine and Battery Shortages Loom as Children Return to In-Person Learning

Valencia – Children are returning to school for in-person learning after a year-long hiatus due to the pandemic, and local retailers are reporting an increase in shortages for boxed wine and batteries. “There’s been a massive spike in sales, it’s really quite bizarre,” said Carl Snyder, Store Manager of the good Target in Canyon Country. “I’m not sure what’s driving the run on these products, but we’re struggling to keep shelves stocked.”

The coronavirus pandemic forced many families with children to adjust their schedules and lives, with students moving to remote learning and parents working from home. As the restrictions are lifted, more people are returning to work and their children are finishing out the school year on campus. “Oh dear god I’m thankful for some quiet time,” said Erika Carpenter after dropping off her two kids at Helmer’s Elementary, “Don’t get me wrong, I love my children, just . . . Jesus they’re a lot. Mommy needs a long, hot bath.”
