Local Democrats Hope to Profit from People Laughing at Them
Newhall – Local activist group The Santa Clarita Valley Democrats, has announced a “Comedy” show set to premiere Wednesday May 25th at the Canyon Theatre Guild in Old Town Newhall. The show will feature absolutely no one from the city, but instead importing “talent” from the greater Los Angeles area.
“We just really wanted to take the opportunity to gather the community together and have a good laugh,” said Chair Andrew Taban, “Frankly it’s time we started charging for all the laughs that come our way. We hope this brings our community together after what has been a very long couple of years, what with the pandemic and Mike Garcia assisting with the attempted coup on January 6th, 2021.”
The lineup includes Sam Goldstein, Ralph Guerra, Cat Alvarado, JC Currais and is hosted by Liv Doty.
Tickets for Wednesdays show can be purchased via the Santa Clarita Valley Democrats website here.
Jerome Horwitz is a Santa Clarita native. His family traces their lineage all the way back to the 1960s when his grandparents moved to the area to start a farm in what is now Castaic Lake. Growing turnips proved unfeasible below water, so they got out of farming and started a donut shop specializing in Bear Claws. Jerome enjoys watching paint dry, and lurking in local Facebook groups.
